1. Union Cabinet approves Prime Minister's Health Protection Fund

The Union Cabinet has approved Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Nidhi-PMSSN as a single non-lapsable reserve fund.

It has been approved for the share of health from the income of health and education cess which is levied under Section 136-B of the Finance Act, 2007.

It is a non-lapsable reserve fund for health in public accounts. The fund will include income from health's share in the health and education cess.

2. Cabinet approves amendment in Insurance Act 1938

The Union Cabinet has given its approval to amend the Insurance Act, paving the way for 74 percent foreign direct investment in the sector. At present, the limit of general FDI in life and general insurance with ownership and management control of Indian is 49 percent.
